This girls T Rex girls tshirt has a picture of Marc Bolan (born Mark Field). He started his career as a model, then tried his hand at folk music using the name Toby Tyler. Next he changed his name again to Marc Bolan and briefly joined Mod band John's Children but they didn't achieve much success and so he left the band. Bolan and Steve Peregrine Took then formed Tyrannosaurus Rex. This early version of the band recorded 4 albums which had a folk sound, then Bolan replaced Took with Mickey Finn and he shortened the name to T. Rex. The sound changed, becoming more electric and Bolan began wearing top hats, glitter and feather boas when performing, which was the very beginnings of the glam rock movement. T Rex rapidly became popular, having hit singles and infuencing others to adopt the glam look, including Rod Stewart, David Bowie and Mick Jagger. Marc Bolan was tragically killed 2 weeks prior to his 30th birthday. The car he was a passenger in crashed into a tree and Bolan was killed instantly.
