Formed in 2002, the bands breakthrough came in 2006 when they played the Reading and Leeds festival, earning very positive reviews in the music press. Their debut album was released in 2007, going straight into the top 5 in the UK album charts and achieving Gold status quickly. They were nominated for a Q Award for Best New Act, but lost out to The Enemy. The Pigeon Detectives' second album "Emergency" was released in 2008, also making the top 5.
