R.I.P. The King of Pop, who died at the age of just 50 on the 25th of June 2009. This Michael Jackson t shirt features an image of the King of Pop busting one of his trademark dance moves. His musical career began at the tender age of six, when he joined his brothers' band The Jackson Brothers, singing backing vocals. By the age of eight he had assumed the lead vocal duties and the band changed their name to The Jackson Five. The Jackson Five set a new record when their fist four singles (released on the Motown label) all went to number one in the US charts. In 1972 Michael Jackson began working as a solo artist as well as singing with the Jackson Five. In 1975 The Jackson 5 left Motown Records and signed with CBS Records, changing their name to "The Jacksons" for legal reasons. In 1978 Michael Jackson teamed up with Quincy Jones who produced his solo album "Off The Wall" which has sold 20 million copies worldwide. His next album, "Thriller" made Michael Jackson the biggest artist on the planet and is the biggest selling album in history, with a reported 100 million sales. It spent an incredible 37 weeks at number one in the US album charts and was a worldwide smash. Follwing the massive success of Thriller the media attention on Jackson was huge. He increasingly began to be reported as an oddball, with stories of him sleeping in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber, owning a pet monkey, living in his Neverland theme-park and buying the bones of The Elephant Man, among many other stories. These reports earned him the nickname "Wacko Jacko". His next album release "Bad" did not match the success of Thriller, but was still a huge commercial success in its own right with sales in excess of 30 million. His next release was "Dangerous" which again sold 30 million units. He released a greatest hits album in 1995 called "HIStory". He then released two albums "Invincible", and a second greatest hits album "King of Pop". Michael Jackson was due to make a return to live performances in 2009 with a series of 50 shows in London, but sadly passed away two weeks before the first show was scheduled.
