Could 24 continue after season 8?

Not that we want to get your hopes up too early but with the production of season eight of 24 coming to a close, there are plenty of rumours flying around about whether Jack Bauer will be returning for another day.
In what’s probably the strongest indication yet that the counter terrorism agent won’t be disappearing from our screens forever, executive producer Howard Gordon is optimistic about a ninth series.
He told the Hollywood Reporter that “the book hasn’t been closed”. And he’ll be there if it is commissioned.
The series about Jack Bauer has spawned countless 24 T-shirts since it exploded onto TV almost ten years ago.
Gordon also said that Kiefer Sutherland “is inclined to do another season if there is a good story”.
The interview was actually about his involvement in a new series with Fox, based on an Israeli drama called Prisoners of War.
But with the ongoing hype about one of the most watched TV shows in history, he couldn’t escape questions about Jack Bauer.
Anyone hoping for a spoiler about the end of Day Eight will be disappointed though – all Gordon said was that it “has a strong thematic closure”.
