Former Beatles star Paul McCartney has performed at the home of US president Barack Obama.
McCartney serenaded Obama’s wife Michelle, with the appropriately-titled track Michelle and a host of other tracks and was honoured with the Gershwin prize for Popular Song.
Fans of the musician could pay tribute to him with a music T-shirt bearing the classic The Beatles logo.
The president said that the singer and bassist had “helped to lay the soundtrack for an entire generation”.
McCartney expressed his pleasure at playing the White House, saying: “I don’t think there could be anything more special than to play here.”
