BBC rules out Top of the Pops return

The BBC is looking to create a brand new music show as it seeks to leave behind calls for a return of Top of the Pops.
Andy Parfitt, the BBC Radio 1 controller who is also the BBC’s head of popular music, ruled out bringing back the popular programme, which ran for 42 years until 2006.
“It would be great if we could get a new popular music-based programme with a new format, a new kind of offer that really worked for the audience,” he said.
He added work is underway to find a format but stated the broadcaster is not trying to relaunch or reinvent Top of the Pops, saying “that is kind of a red herring”.
Fans of the now once-yearly show may wish to pick up a retro T-shirt for their child based on its original logo.
The Top of the Tots design is available in a range of sizes and might be the perfect choice for stylish kids.
