Rooney debate settled with new contract Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has been the subject of much discussion and debate in recent days, but it has been ended as the striker has signed a new five-year contract.

The England international, who turns 25 tomorrow (October 23rd), had told the Red Devils he wishes to leave the club and stated they “lack ambition”.

Rooney joined Sir Alex Ferguson’s men at the age of 18 from boyhood team Everton and his since collected a haul of winners medals including the Champions League in 2008.

However, since that night in Moscow his club have lost arguably the world’s greatest player Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid and Carlos Tevez to bitter rivals Manchester City.

The saga had attracted much speculation with reports suggesting clubs including Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid were in the frame for his signature.

Some United supporters reacted angrily to Rooney’s actions with a group of around 30-40 protesters standing outside the forward’s Cheshire home last night to make their feelings known.
