Coldplay’s Chris Martin has been nominated in the Best Song category for the 2011 Oscars.
A total of 41 songs are longlisted for the gong, with the winner set to be revealed at the award ceremony on February 27th at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.
His song Me and Tennessee, which features on the soundtrack to forthcoming film Country Strong, is up for the honour.
That film stars Martin’s wife Gwyneth Paltrow as a down-on-her-luck country singer.
Other acts nominated include Janet Jackson and Alanis Morissette.
Meanwhile, Coldplay are currently working on an as-yet-untitled record.
Speaking to the BBC, the singer revealed the LP, which is being produced by Brian Eno and Marcus Dravs, is to be a concept album.
Fans of the band may like to opt for one of the range of alternative t-shirts available in their honour at 8ball.co.uk.
