John Lennon items up for auction
filed in Music News on Dec.21, 2010
The white suit worn by John Lennon on the Beatles’ Abbey Road album cover has come up for auction.
It is one of numerous items that once belonged to the former Beatle – who was shot dead in New York just over 30 years ago – that has been put on sale this month.
The item follows the copy of Double Happiness that Lennon autographed for his killer Mark Chapman, which went on sale.
It is up for auction on New Year’s Day at Braswell Galleries in Connecticut, as well as the blazer he wore in the video for Imagine and the 1972 station wagon he shared with Yoko Ono.
The recent surge in popularity of the Liverpudlian group, due to the anniversary of Lennon’s death and the availability of their songs on iTunes, may lead to the items attracting huge interest.
