Morrissey lends support to Johnny Marr Morrissey has lent his support to comments made about David Cameron by his former The Smiths bandmate Johnny Marr.

Writing for the True To You zine the vocalist said: “I would like to try to explain why I think Johnny is right not to be flattered.”

Morrissey criticised the politician’s participation in hunting and killing stags and stated: “It was not for such people that either Meat is Murder or The Queen is Dead were recorded; in fact, they were made as a reaction against such violence.”

Last week, in response to Cameron’s previous praise of the Mancunian legends, Marr took to his Twitter page to tell the prime minister to stop liking the group’s music.

Fans of the pair, who went their separate ways when The Smiths split in 1987, could take a look at the alternative t-shirts available in their honour from 8ball.co.uk.

Why not opt for the Indie Gods design, which shows an image of the pair alongside each other in the 1980s heyday.  ADNFCR-2904-ID-800273889-ADNFCR
