Metallica remains SoundScan bestseller Metallica has remained the biggest selling artist of the SoundScan era, which runs from 1991 to the present day.

The rockers top the list with their self-titled album, also known as The Black Album due to its distinctively dark cover.

According to the album sales aggregator the entire top ten bestsellers remained unchanged in 2010, with the Metallica album edging its sales up to 15.62 million.

It remained slightly in front of the entirely different sounding artist Shania Twain whose Come On Over LP has sold 15.487 million copies.
