American rockers My Chemical Romance will be headlining a summer festival in the UK, their frontman Gerard Way told fans over the weekend.

The singer made the announcement during the band’s Wembley Arena gig on Saturday (February 12th).

With a host of line-ups yet to be made public, rumours about which festival the band will perform at are rife, with Leeds/Reading one discussed possibility.

Melvin Benn, the event’s organiser, has been quoted as saying that 2011′s headliners will not be topping line-ups at festivals elsewhere in the UK.

The New Jersey four-piece – whose albums include The Black Parade and Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge – have also been linked with Download festival, which is still to announce its final headliner.

As their current tour of Europe and North America looks to end in Las Vegas at the end of May, it is possible the band will be free for a festival date this summer.
