Blade Runner sequels on the cards? A film production company may make a number of sequels and prequels to Blade Runner if it manages to secure rights to the sci-fi classic.

Alcon Entertainment is currently involved in negotiations to secure the rights of the movie franchise, which would enable it to potentially create a number of films, games, novels or television shows using the Blade Runner brand.

Executive Andrew Kosove told Variety the firm had yet to decide on how to proceed.

“We’re at a very preliminary stage where we’re still formulating a strategy,” he said.

Mr Kosove added that the film was a “personal favourite” and acknowledged that his team will “have to do justice to the memory of the original with any prequel or sequel we produce”.

Based on the short story Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep? by Philip K Dick, 1982′s Blade Runner movie starred Harrison Ford as a cop who specialises in eradicating human clones.
