Bond 23 secures record product placement deal

While Daniel Craig’s James Bond may be a loose cannon that M finds hard to control, it appears that the secret agent is not quite so hard to pin down commercially.
The next film in the franchise, the as-yet-untitled Bond 23, is due to set a record in the movie industry by picking up $45 million (£27.3 million) of its production costs from product placement investment.
Fans can decide for themselves if this represents an icon’s image being dictated by the highest bidder or if it is simply smart business.
Either way, people can expect to see plenty of brand names popping up in the movie when it hits British cinema screens next year.
The previous record for product placement in a film was held by the Tom Cruise sci-fi hit Minority Report, which received $20 million from major brands.
