Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D in the works The fear factor in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is set to be raised to three – 3D that is.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate are in talks with John Luessenhop about directing the three dimensional movie. Production on the moving picture could start as early as June this year.

Many fans may still feel that the original 1974 version cannot be bettered.

The Tobe Hooper-helmed movie was banned in a number of countries when it was released, but this only helped turn Leatherface and his family of deformed cannibals into cult figures.

A remake starring Jessica Biel and Jonathan Tucker appeared in 2003, so this new adaptation will need to offer something new – aside from simply 3D visuals – if it wants to justify itself to hardcore fans of the original film.

There is no word yet as to who will star in the latest title in the franchise.
