The untimely death of Amy Winehouse rocked the nation over the weekend. Many saw a glimmer of hope for her in ‘tackling her demons’, whilst others saw her death as a grim inevitability. Either way, the news was quite tragic and the music world will be far poorer without her. Her voice was raw, full of emotion and will undoubtedly go down in music history.

Thousands of fans have been flocking to Camden, hometown of the late songstress, to pay tributes in their own special way. One tribute that caught our eye in particular was a stencil that appeared on a wall at Camden Lock in the early hours of Monday morning.

The image clearly resembles Winehouse, complete with signature beehive hair do, mini skirt, high heels and some angel wings for good measure.

The piece has caused quite a stir in the art world, with many concluding that it must be a Banksy original. It certainly resembles some of Banksy’s earlier work, with the obvious trademarks blaring out. Banksy is known for his satirical work and this new find would absolutely fit the bill.

We’d love to believe this is our favourite guerrilla artist striking again, but his spokesman would suggest otherwise. He swiftly denied all claims that the Bristol born artist was involved in any way. Oh well, perhaps it wasn’t him this time. But whoever it was, we at 8Ball.co.uk think that it was a great little touch!
