If you’re a fan of 8Ball.co.uk, it goes without saying that you’ve got great taste! Well, in that case Nike’s latest creations will probably make you pee yourself – we nearly did when we heard about them! The iconic, self-lacing sneakers that Marty Mcfly wore in Back to the Future Part II have been put into production. Until now, they have been known as ‘the greatest shoe never made’. nike mag, back to the future nike

The Back to the Future movies were huge in the 80s and early 90s and in the second part of the trilogy Marty and a time travelling scientist by the name of ‘Doc’ must repair the past in order to save Marty and Jennifer’s future children. On their journey in what is perhaps the world’s most recognisable car, the DeLorean, they end up 30 years in the future in 2015. A lot had happened in 30 years; hover boards were all the rage, everyone owned a flying car and sneakers even tied themselves. In the legendary hover board scene, Marty slips into his Nike boots and takes off.

So, back to reality and three years early, Nike has made these fictional creations something of a reality (well, almost!). Complete with rechargeable LED heel panel and electroluminescent Nike logo on the tongue, its clear to see why everyone remembers those Nike Airs so vividly! Unfortunately, technology hasn’t advanced enough for the laces to tie themselves, but everything else about them is pretty much spot on!

But don’t get too excited guys. Only 1,500 pairs have been made and they are to be sold to the highest bidders on eBay auctions. To give you an idea of what they’ll cost, a pair has been spotted with the latest bid at £5,700 with 14 hours remaining! Better get saving.

Nike announced that all funds raised from sales of the Nike Mag will be going to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinsons. We tip our hats to that!

If you’re not lucky enough to get hold of a pair of these little beauties, fear not. 8Ball have loads of Back to the Future tshirts to choose from. Head on over and take a look for yourself!
