Nowadays, we are bound by the restrictions of health and safety in pretty much everything we do. Sometimes it feels like you can’t even fart without having to take a course in safe windypops distribution first. What has the world come to?!

Health and safety is by no means something new. Although it may seem over the top and laborious, at the end of the day it’s there to protect us brain-dead minions from getting hurt or even killed….and to protect businesses from this wretched suing culture that has plagued much of the modern world. Actually, mainly the latter!

Anyway, we had a look around at some health and safety videos that have been put out over the years and we found some absolute corkers. From the downright ridiculous to the absurdly gruesome and even some slapstick for good measure, take a look at these advisory pieces from years gone by.

1950s office safety

Let’s start with a video from the 1950s that aimed to reduce the number of injuries occurring in offices around the United States. Terrible acting, great sound effects and a brilliant pain faces make this an absolute classic piece of entertainment/safety advice. Remember – this isn’t for training purposes!

Hilariously gruesome workplace safety

‘Profound’ quotes, cheap Portishead-esq soundtrack, loads of unnecessary blood and limbs being dismembered. Total gore fest but strangely funny. Prepare to be weirded out.

Fork lift safety

Fork lift truck drivers have a pretty dangerous job. Thank god for videos like this that highlight the very real dangers that exist out there. We found an English-dubbed version of this German video. Take heed!
