R Kelly Trapped in the ClosetR Kelly has announced that he’s seeking investment to produce another 32 chapters of his concept “hip hopera” Trapped in the Closet – quite possibly the best news we’ve heard all year.

If you’re not already acquainted with Trapped in the Closet, you should really take a long hard look at yourself. You definitely need this in your life.

It’s probably fair to say no introduction can do justice to what R Kelly has created – 22 separate ‘chapters’ of song-based storytelling, complete with guns, midgets, ridiculous rhymes, and more guns.

Here’s a little taster for you:

R Kelly says Trapped in the Closet is about “being silly and not having a job and having nothing else to do, and sitting around in the studio,” but we suspect he actually takes the whole thing more seriously than he admits.

Trapped in the Closet was the inspiration for the South Park episode of the same name, which picks up on the latent undertones of repressed homosexuality and parodies the ludicrous gangsta persona R Kelly creates for himself:

It also spawned an epic spoof by Weird Al Yankovic:

We’re praying that R Kelly gets the investment he needs to film the additional 2 hours of “am I supposed to be laughing at this?” action he has scripted.

But for now, why not sit back and enjoy the first 22 chapters?
