Ryanair does sexy?

If you’ve ever had the misfortune of flying with Ryanair, you’ll know that there is nothing in the least bit sexy about it. From the moment you select your tickets online to the moment you land in your chosen destination, there is usually nothing but hassle. Charges to book on your card, charges if you don’t. Charges if you want to take a bag with you, charges to print your ticket at home and even charges to use the toilet. It goes on and by the time you’ve paid for the ticket you may as well have travelled with a better airline.
Ryanair has been hitting the headlines recently for all sorts of reasons, but largely because of the sneaky charges they keep swindling customers with. ‘Fare’ enough; flying an aircraft is expensive and we know this, but for god’s sake, don’t tell us we’re getting a flight for £9.99 when we’re blatantly not!
Anyway, Ryanair are well aware of their flailing reputation and with a ‘when all else fails’ attitude they’ve opted for the ‘sex sells’ ethos. Oh dear…
A string of adverts have cropped up, which heavily feature scantily clad female flight attendants and the airline has even released a sexy calendar. This has caused uproar amongst Ryanair’s staff, as they feel that they have been portrayed as nothing more than cheap bimbos. Social campaigns website, Change.org, has also spoken out and called for the Advertising Standards Authority to forcibly stop the campaign. This is quickly gaining public support, with thousands of people having already signed the petition. And what’s more, we’ve flown with Ryanair plenty of times and we’ve NEVER seen a flight attendant wearing a bikini. That’s false advertising in our book (just kidding).
As you’re probably well aware, we’re far from being prudes here at 8Ball but come on; it’s going to take a lot more than good looking girls in bikinis on your ads to make us want to fly with you! The phrase ‘polishing a turd’ springs to mind. Virgin had a similar ad campaign with their airline but they did it with subtlety and finesse, and it kind of worked!
And it doesn’t stop there people. Ryanair Boss, Michael O’Leary, recently announced that he plans to add another chargeable service – porn. That’s right, if the plans go ahead you’ll be able to log on to a premium connection with your smart phone or tablet device and stream porn. That’s not weird in the slightest…yeah right!
Just imagine being sat next to that sweaty, heavily breathing weirdo who thinks it’s normal to tune in to a bit of in-flight ‘entertainment’. And you thought being sat next to a screaming baby was bad! The mind boggles.
