5 films to look out for this year
filed in Tv & Movie news on Jan.04, 2012
2012 is in full swing and there’s a whole bunch of movies heading for the big screen in the coming months. There have been lots of confirmed releases for the first half of the year and some of them actually got us a bit excited! Keep your eyes peeled and you’ll be sure to find some absolute corkers out there. We thought we’d share 5 of our most hotly anticipated movies of 2012. Don’t miss out!
The Woman in Black
Daniel Radcliffe ditches his circular specs and wand in his first feature film since Harry Potter. The Woman in Black is James Watkin’s film adaptation of the truly spooky novel by Susan Hill. If you fancy a bit of a frightfest, keep a look out for this around February time. Radcliffe sports some stubble in an attempt to leave the childish Harry Potter looks behind, but in a recent response to a review in the Guardian, one reader commented: “Daniel Radcliffe still looks like the Woman in Black could give him a wedgie and steal his dinner money.” Still, we’ll be giving this film a go!
John Carter
Taylor Kitsch takes on the role of John Carter, from Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Barsoom novels, written in the early 20th century. Disney’s adaptation looks like a complete visual feast and one to make any fan of science fiction stand up and pay attention.
Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace (3D)
You may groan and you may tut at the thought of this, but we don’t care! We are huge fans of Star Wars here at 8Ball and we think that adding a third dimension to the fourth installment will be nothing short of epic. We’re usually pretty much against putting half-assed 3D effects on top of an already awesome movie, but something tells us that the clever people at Lucasfilm will do The Phantom Menace justice. Definitely one to watch at the cinema!
The Avengers
Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor, and Black Widow. The Marvel heroes come together in this high octane adventure, complete with an all-star cast, incredible special effects, more explosions than you could shake a stick at, and the very lovely Scarlett Johansson. What more do you need?
The Dark Knight Rises
Christian Bale returns as one of our favourite superheroes in the third and final Batman movie directed by Christopher Nolan. Perhaps the most talked about film to be released in 2012 so far, and we can’t wait. Early reports suggest that The Dark Knight Rises goes a lot deeper and darker than any Batman movie ever made. Definitely not one to miss – take a look at this teaser trailer and you’ll see what we mean!
Keep a look out for these awesome movies guys, you don’t want to miss out. In the meantime however, we highly recommend that you take a look at our awesome movie tshirts. If you can’t find the exact tshirt you’re looking for, drop us a line and we’ll see if we can find one for you!
