Noel Fielding’s new TV show Luxury Comedy to debut later this month

Noel Fielding, star of The Mighty Boosh, panellist on Nevermind the Buzzcocks, and androgynous style icon for the fashionably weird, has a brand new TV show on the way.
Entitled Luxury Comedy, the show will debut on E4 on Thursday 26th January. It will be a collection of sketches created using a mixture of live action and animation, with music from Kasabian’s Serge Pizzorno.
Announcing the news on Twitter, Fielding warned “the mainstream are gonna shit it.”
Indeed, what could be more disturbing than an eyeliner-clad Shoreditch surrealist with a penchant for all things psychedelic? Rumour has it Michael McIntyre will be hiding in a cave, defecating in abject terror, and making HILARIOUS observations about living in a shit-filled cave, for the foreseeable future.
Fielding has claimed that “television needs a madman” and says he just wants to “blow people’s minds.”
The Channel 4 website offers a bit more of an idea of what to expect:
“Along with animator/director Nigel Coan (The Mighty Boosh, Bunny and the Bull), Fielding has created a joyful, charming explosion of a TV show that is in the tradition of Spike Milligan and Kenny Everett but completely modern at the same time.
“The show is like biting into an aurora borealis sandwich…like Salvador Dali and Mick Jagger recreating The Jungle Book using toast… Warm and strange and packed with jokes, Luxury Comedy will change the way you feel about television and your own hands forever.”
We’ll definitely be tuning in. Will you?
Fans of The Mighty Boosh will be pleased to hear that Fielding and his co-star, Julian Barrett, have finished recording their long-awaited debut album. However, it may not be released until the film based on the TV show hits the cinemas. Given that they haven’t even started writing the film yet, it could be a while…
