Factory Records to reopen as club The former offices of Factory Records in Manchester will be opened as a club on January 29th, it has been revealed.

One of the founding members of Joy Division and bassist with New Order Peter Hook told the BBC’s Steve Lamacq that the home of the iconic record label will open its doors as FAC251 on January 29th.

In the late 1980s and early 90s the music scene in Manchester exploded, with bands such as New Order and the Happy Mondays shooting to fame.

Hook experienced the rise of Factory Records and its iconic club, the Hacienda, first hand.

The “Madchester” days inspired a number of vintage T-shirts featuring slogans and symbols representative of the city’s music scene.

He has teamed up with the architect behind the infamous venue, Ben Kelly, to revamp the Charles Street building.

Hook stated that the venture was sparked by the proliferation of new bands and sounds in the city.

“The idea is to put a good old-fashioned venue, where music is the key and give them a chance to grow,” he told BBC 6 Music.

Produced in 2002, the film 24 Hour Party People told the story of Factory Records founder Tony Wilson and the Hacienda’s rise to fame.ADNFCR-2904-ID-19557717-ADNFCR
