Lamacq calls for old band T-shirts

DJ Steve Lamacq has declared that this Friday (December 4th) will be the second Wear Your Old Band T-Shirt To Work Day.
The BBC 6Music presenter is encouraging listeners to dig out their favourite band T-shirt and wear it with pride in the office.
Lamacq, who launched the event last year, was inspired by a section of his radio show in which people phoned in or sent pictures of themselves wearing obscure and vintage T-shirts bearing the names of their favourite bands in the workplace.
According to the DJ, Wear Your Old Band T-shirt To Work Day is an attempt to reclaim such garments from the clutches of fashion-conscious celebrities.
Writing on his section of the 6Music website, the 44-year-old explained: “For too long we have stood aside and watched in silence as so called ‘It Girls’ have paraded around LA and London in Led Zeppelin and Ramones T-shirts.
“But no longer! We say dig out your T-shirts and be proud!”
So, whether you favour a Stone Roses, Arctic Monkeys, Smiths or REM T-shirt, this Friday is your chance to join music lovers across the country and show your allegiance.
