Santana to pay homage to great guitarists with new album Carlos Santana has revealed that he’ll pay homage to some of music’s greats with his latest album.

Although he’s firmly installed in the guitar legend category himself, the rocker is set to include some classic tunes on his forthcoming offering.

In an interview with Billboard magazine, he unveiled some of the songs and collaborations for his new project.

They include a cover of Jimi Hendrix’s Little Wing with Joe Cocker, Sunshine of your Love by Cream with Rob Thomas – who previously hooked up with Santana for Smooth on his Supernatural album – and a version of Deep Purple’s Smoke on the Water.

Fans with Santana Tshirts will no doubt be getting excited at the prospect of a new album featuring some of the best rock songs around.

But the man himself was keen to stress that he’s not trying to outdo the originals.

“We’re not comparing or competing with those artists – we’re complementing them,” he told the magazine, adding: “Like Wayne Shorter says, it’s completely new, totally familiar.”ADNFCR-2904-ID-19642803-ADNFCR
