A science-fiction film directed by David Bowie’s son Duncan Jones has been named the best independent British film of the year.
The movie, entitled Moon, took the top prize at the British Independent Film Awards (Bifas) ceremony in London.
Jones, who was formerly known as Zowie Bowie, made the feature for just $5 million (£3 million) and also picked up the best debut director award for his efforts.
Moon stars Sam Rockwell as an astronaut living alone on the lunar surface, while Kevin Spacey features as the voice of the on-board computer.
Other winners at the Bifas included Andrea Arnold, who took the best director prize for Fish Tank, while Tom Hardy was named best actor for his role in Bronson.
Meanwhile, David Bowie last week dismissed rumours of a Glastonbury appearance in 2010, potentially causing many music fans to keep their retro T-shirts packed away for now.
Newspaper reports indicated that the singer was in talks to play at the festival, but a statement posted on his website said the story had “absolutely no substance”.
