Muppets could take off with Bobin Everyone has a favourite Muppet – whether it’s the karate-chopping Miss Piggy, the wild and exuberant Animal or Gonzo – who’s simply bizarre.

Now all of our favourite childhood characters who once walked Sesame Street could be given a new lease of life on the big screen.

According to New York Magazine’s Vulture blog, James Bobin of Flight of the Conchords fame has been offered the director’s chair for the latest Muppets instalment.

Could this mean a return to the idea that the Muppets are adult entertainment suitable for children? Vulture seems to think so and let’s hope it’s true.

The script for this puppet-filled movie has been written by Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller – the team behind Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Only time will tell whether this proves to be a new era for the timeless Muppets or whether all those retro tee shirts featuring Elmo, the Cookie Monster and Oscar the Grouch will stay at the bottom of closets around the world.ADNFCR-2904-ID-19586162-ADNFCR
