Tarantino 'positive' about Oscar chances The Oscars are less than a week away now and still all the hype is about James Cameron’s Avatar versus Kathryn Bigelow’s Hurt Locker (with the nice sub-plot of the ex husband/wife facing off against each other).

But while the media have been busy with those two, Quentin Tarantino has been observing and is ready to cause an upset.

Speaking to the BBC he said: “I think we’re definitely in the race, I think it’s anybody’s game.”

Could he be right? Inglourious Basterds picked up eight nominations, just one behind both Hurt Locker and Avatar, including best director, best actor in a supporting role (for Christoph Waltz) and best picture.

There are plenty of fans who would no doubt agree, sporting their various Quentin Tarantino T-shirts in support of the director.

He’s been doing pretty well lately, picking up an award for his outstanding contribution to cinema from the London Film Critics’ Circle last month, as well as a host of other honours for his World War II flick.ADNFCR-2904-ID-19644588-ADNFCR
