Courtney Love has spoken out over a new Doc Martens advert she didn’t give permission for, showing her late husband Kurt Cobain wearing the shoes in heaven. She said the ad campaign, by Saatchi & Saatchi, as ‘despicable’. In the advert the Nirvana singer is wearing Doc Martens whilst sitting on a cloud with the tagline ‘Dr Martens Forever’.
The CEO of Dr Martens parent company Airwear, said the company had not commissioned the series of ads which also features the Sex Pistols’ Sid Vicious, Joey Ramone and The Clash frontman Joe Strummer and was quick to apologise, and said they had terminated their contract with Saatchi.
