The Clash was the main band that stared the punk revolution for the 10 years they were performing they changed music history by making a new genre of music called punk. From their earliest days as a band, The Clash stood apart from their peers with their musicianship, as well as their lyrics; the passionate, left wing political idealism in the lyrics of front men Joe Strummer and Mick Jones contrasted with the anarchic nihilism of the Sex Pistols and the basic simplicity of The Ramones. Although they were a major success in the U.K. from the release of their first album in 1977, they did not become popular in the U.S. until 1980.And then after a very successful reign (as some people would say) the best band in the world, they split up and went there different ways, and not so long ago in 2002 the great Joe strummer passed away because of a heart attack.
