Ban The Vuvuzela t-shirt
Vuvuzela included in Oxford Dictionary
24/08/2010
The vuvuzela has been added to the Oxford Dictionary of English, after it achieved notoriety at this summer's World Cup.
Described as "a long horn blown by fans at soccer matches in South Africa", the instrument is one of 2,000 new words and phrases - such as tweetup, credit crunch and beer goggles - to be introduced to the dictionary this year.
A host of Premier League clubs banned the vuvuzela from their stadia after it sparked much debate during the World Cup due to its droning, monotone noise.
Matt Grayson, head of marketing and communications at Wolverhampton Wanderers, told the Express & Star the club had forbidden the plastic horns after receiving "a pretty clear message" that the majority of the club's supporters do not want them at Molineux.
"Vuvuzelas are the musical equivalent of Marmite. You either love them or loathe them," he added.
Those wanting to join the debate can pick up one of the vuvuzela-themed slogan T-shirts available at 8ball.co.uk.
