Jurassic Park IV 'will happen'

Joe Johnston, the director of Jurassic Park III, has confirmed that a fourth movie in the franchise is going to be produced.

In an interview with Boxoffice, Johnston said that the new film will be "unlike anything you've ever seen before".

"It breaks away from the first three - it's essentially the beginning of the second Jurassic Park trilogy," he explained.

Johnston added that a further three films in the series are not set in stone, however, if they keep attracting audiences then it is a possibility.

Directed by Steven Spielberg, the first Jurassic Park film hit screens in 1993 and inspired a range of retro T-shirts depicting the movie's logo.

It also picked up three Oscars - for Best Visual Effects, Best Sound Effects Editing and Best Sound - in addition to a host of other awards.

The final instalment of the trilogy was released in 2001, with Johnston at the helm and saw Sam Neill reprise his role as Dr Alan Grant after opting out of The Lost World: Jurassic Park.
