Total Recall remake could star Kate Beckinsale

Kate Beckinsale has been lined up to play the role of Lori in the upcoming remake of Total Recall, which is being directed by her husband Len Wiseman.

Fans of the classic Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi flick from 1990 will already have heard that Colin Farrell is due to replace Arnie, but the female leads were still up for grabs.

According to Deadline, Beckinsale has been offered the part of Lori, played by Sharon Stone in the original, while producers are looking at signing up Eva Mendes or Rosario Dawson for the role of Melina.

Total Recall is based on the Philip K Dick story We Can Remember It For You Wholesale, one of many tales from the writer that have reached the silver screen.

Among the most famous are Blade Runner, A Scanner Darkly, Minority Report and recent release The Adjustment Bureau.

An unfortunate irony is that while he is now considered one of the greatest sci-fi writers of all time, he lived in relative poverty through most of his life.
