British actor Andrew Garfield has been revealed as the next actor to play Spider-Man, in the latest big screen version of the comic book series.
Oscar-nominated director Marc Webb will oversee the latest installment of the franchise, following the departure of director Sam Raimi and actor Tobey Maguire after scheduling issues.
Work is due to start on the film later this year in time for a 2012 release and fans could celebrate the news by picking up one of a range of Spider-Man T-shirts available from 8ball.co.uk.
People may like to opt for a design featuring an image of Peter Parker as his alter-ego Spiderman, swinging on a webline with stars in the background and a Union Jack.
"Though his name may be new to many, those who know this young actor's work understand his extraordinary talents," Webb said.
He added that Garfield offers a rare combination of "intelligence, wit and humanity" and suggested fans will love him as Peter Parker.
