Monty Python T-shirt can mark Holy Grail anniversary

A pilgrimage to Doune Castle in Scotland will be the ideal place to show off a Monty Python T-shirt.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail was filmed at the 14th-century stronghold and fans of the film head there every year.

But Historic Scotland is planning a special event for September 12th, in order to mark the 35th anniversary of the movie's release.

The organisation's Nick Finnigan explained coconut shells - which were famously used to mimic horse's hooves - will be among the many features of the First Farewell Monty Python Day.

"We've got some of the most popular comic sketches being recreated, prizes for the best costumes and a trail … highlighting the various filming locations of scenes from the film," he added.

Last week, Python star Terry Jones revealed the TV show was nearly scrapped by the BBC after one series, but enquiries from a Spanish TV agent who wanted to buy the rights ultimately saved it.
