Banksy art included in digital museum

Banksy's Paint Pot Angel in Bristol is among the pieces that have been submitted as images to a digital museum set up by the BBC and the British Museum.

The organisations are collaborating with establishments around the UK to gather a collection of objects that each has local historical significance.

A piece of Banksy artwork is among the images submitted by the Bristol Museum.

Many people are seen sporting Banksy t-shirts in his hometown of Bristol, but it is his Paint Pot Angel statue that has been chosen to represent his urban art form.

In its write-up for the BBC website, the Bristol Museum explained that it chose the piece because it represents the Banksy versus Bristol Museum exhibition, which was the most popular art event ever held in the city.

The concept of the digital museum has been created to coincide with the launch of a new BBC Radio 4 series entitled A History Of The World In 100 Objects.
