Marc Webb has been selected as the director for the next Spider-Man film, it has been announced.
After the news earlier this week that Sam Raimi was not directing the next instalment of the franchise, speculation has been rife about who would take the helm of the latest movie.
Toby Maguire is also leaving Spider-Man behind as the new film is set to focus on the hero's teenage years and his struggle to control his new-found super powers.
In a statement, Webb said: "I'm here because there's an opportunity for ideas, stories and histories that will add a new dimension, canvas and creative voice to Spider-Man."
His most recent box office success was last year's romantic comedy (500) Days of Summer, which starred Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
The fourth of the Spider-Man movies is expected to be released in summer 2012, when Spider-Man fans will no doubt be out in force in their retro T-shirts as they queue to see the latest offering.
Michael Shannon will star in the new Superman film as General Zod.
Al Pacino has stepped up to take De Niro's Son of No One role after the veteran actor pulled out of the production.
A sneak peak at the first Predators trailers has left many film buffs wanting more.
Kate Beckinsale could star opposite Colin Farrell in the remake of classic Arnie flick Total Recall.
