Carla Bruni set for Woody Allen role?

Woody Allen's next movie could feature Carla Bruni in a starring role, it has emerged.

The singer and wife of French president Nicolas Sarkozy revealed that the director has offered her a part in a future production, although she has not yet been given any further details of the film.

In an interview with French TV channel Canal Plus, Bruni said: "I cannot in my life miss an opportunity like this.

"I'd like to, you know, when I'm a grandmother, to have done a Woody Allen film."

Allen, whose trademark black spectacles can be seen on the T-shirts of movie fans around the world, is known for directing acclaimed movies such as Annie Hall, Manhattan and Hannah and Her Sisters.

More recently, he has collaborated with American actress Scarlet Johansson in Match Point, Scoop and Vicky Christina Barcelona.

Bruni released her third collection of songs, Comme si de rien n'etait (As If Nothing Had Happened), in July last year.
