Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill director Quentin Tarantino is set to receive the highest honour bestowed by the London Film Critics' Circle at a ceremony next year.
The 46-year-old film-maker will pick up the Dilys Powell Award for excellence in cinema in London on February 18th.
Tarantino, who made his debut with Reservoir Dogs in 1992, described the award as "such an honour".
"I have always relished discussing my work with film critics and I totally respect their differences of opinion … debate is what keeps cinema alive," he commented.
The American's films have been acclaimed - and immortalised on countless retro T-shirts - for their non-linear narratives, graphic violence and pop culture references.
His latest movie, Inglourious Basterds, was released in August this year.
Meanwhile, An Education has been nominated in seven categories at the London Film Critics' Circle awards ceremony.
The film was directed by Lone Scherfig and stars young British actress Carey Mulligan.
The film stars Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg.
Momentum is building behind the remake of cult classic Escape From New York.
Sam Rockwell and Colin Farrell will also star in the Martin McDonagh film.
