Russell T Davies, chief writer of Doctor Who, has said he is "very proud" with the final episodes involving David Tennant.
The Scottish actor is due to leave the show next year to be replaced by new star Matt Smith, while Davies is also handing over the writing and production reins to Steven Moffat.
Speaking to the BBC, the 46-year-old Welshman claimed that he is no longer sad about leaving the show, which he successfully revived in 2005.
"Now I simply feel happy to be honest, really happy with what we made," Davies said.
"All the sad bits I did when I was writing it, so I got that bit out of my system then."
Doctor Who has been inspiring retro T-shirts among fans of the Daleks and the Tardis since 1963, when it was first broadcast by the BBC.
Tennant has played the tenth incarnation of the Time Lord, following the footsteps of actors such as Christopher Eccleston, Colin Baker and Peter Davison.
