It seems that remakes and reboots of cult 80s movies are the order of the day, with the likes of Ghostbusters III on the cards.
Now, a cult classic Escape From New York is set to get the makeover treatment.
According to the Vulture blog, a screenplay for the update of John Carpenter's 1981 film has been agreed after issues surrounding the location and creative direction of the project were sorted out.
That means that fans of the original don't need to worry that anti-hero Snake Plissken will lose his eye-patch and his humour.
Writer Alan Leob has reportedly struck the right balance with Plissken's character and he'll definitely still don the eye-patch a la Kurt Russell.
When Carpenter agreed to allow New Line to film the remake, he made the company sign a contract stating that Plissken "must be called Snake" and "must wear an eye-patch", the blog pointed out.
As for the location, they're turning Manhattan into a privately-run prison but keeping it largely intact, rather than a picture of destruction as in the original movie.
Those who have vintage T shirts featuring Snake Plissken quotes might want to drag them out after hearing the remake news.
Another 80s movie appears to be set for a remake, this time in the form of Gremlins 3.
Three new stencil images believed to be the work of Banksy have been found in the capital.
A Darth Vader costume is due to go on sale but a movie T-shirt will prove more practical.
Dave Grohl is apparently due to appear in the new Muppets film.
