Hints of a Scorsese-De Niro reunion

Berlin's annual film festival is in full swing now and there are a number of rumours coming out of the showbiz woodwork.

Martin Scorsese has been getting the film buffs and journalists all excited with the revelation that he could team up with Robert De Niro on a new project.

If it happens, it'll be the first time that the pair have worked on a movie together since Casino in 1995.

Speaking at the premiere of Shutter Island, Scorsese gave a clear indication that there's something in the pipeline.

When asked if he'd do another mob movie with De Niro, the veteran director replied: "We're working on something like that, but it's from the vantage point of older men looking back, none of this running around stuff."

So, it's not likely to be another Goodfellas but it's unlikely to be starved of action, so mob-themed movie T-shirts bearing De Niro's image could be set to make a comeback.

The duo have worked on eight pictures together, including some of De Niro's best-known roles such as Taxi Driver, Mean Streets and Cape Fear.
