Could Shutter Island inspire vintage Tshirts?

The latest offering from veteran director Martin Scorsese is proving to be big hit with cinema-goers across the pond.

Shutter Island, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, has retained its top spot at the US box office for the second week running, beating off competition from releases such as The Crazies and Cop Out.

It's already given both the lead actor and director their best ever opening weekend, taking $40.2 million (£26.59 million), so it may yet go on to inspire a host of Martin Scorsese Tshirts.

Some of his films (Taxi Driver, Goodfellas) are already considered classics and if Shutter Island receives the same reception over here when it opens next week then who knows?

The last time that Scorsese and DiCaprio teamed up on a movie was for The Departed, which went on to win four Oscars.

Although it's not included in the forthcoming awards ceremony, it could yet line up to compete for some honours next year.
