Paul Weller 'has finished work on new record'

Paul Weller has claimed work on a new studio recording is now complete.

The solo artist told Xfm that he finished mixing a follow-up to last year's Wake Up the Nation last week, but could not say precisely when the album will be released.

Weller - who will be supporting Kings of Leon at their Hyde Park concert in June - said the new record is "all ready to go".

When asked when fans will be able to purchase the new offering, he said: "Maybe this year, hopefully."

The guitarist and singer previously fronted The Jam and The Style Council, but has released ten studio albums in his solo career, including Stanley Road, As Is Now and Wild Wood.

He said last year the recording will feature "a few avant-garde moments", "soundscape tracks" and "pop-sounding things".
