Retro T-shirts news: Battle of the bands hots up for NME Awards

26/01/2010

In the 90s, the battle of the bands always seemed to be between Oasis and Blur, this year it will be Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian who are fighting it out for some of music's top honours.

Both groups picked up six nominations for NMEs, including best band, best album and best live band.

Muse are also in the running, up for five awards which will be voted for by the public.

But fans of Oasis and Blur could be in for one final scrap between the two bands so hunt out your retro T-shirts and pick your corner.

Although Oasis split last year, they have still received three nominations, including best live event for their Heaton Park gig, while rivals Blur are also up for the category for their performance at Hyde Park.

Not surprisingly, Kings Of Leon received a couple of nominations, as did Radiohead, Biffy Clyro and Florence And The Machine.

Music fans will have to wait until February 24th to find out who triumphs and see whether sparks fly between Blur front man Damon Albarn and the Gallagher brothers.ADNFCR-2788-ID-19577535-ADNFCR
