Judas Priest bag a Grammy

01/02/2010

While most of the headlines are singing the praises of the likes of Beyonce, Lady GaGa and Taylor Swift, it was good to see some of metal's heavyweights getting some recognition too.

Judas Priest finally nabbed a Grammy for the Best Metal Performance for the track Dissident Aggressor, which was taken from their live album - A Touch of Evil: Live.

Rob Halford stepped up to collect the gong and told the audience: "The fifth time is a charm."

Fans of the rockers, who released their first album in 1974, may be pulling on their vintage T-shirts with pride.

The group fought off competition from Slayer, Ministry, Lamb of God and Megadeth to take the coveted statue.

Other established bands were also honoured at the ceremony, which took place on Sunday (January 31st) evening.

AC/DC took the prize for Best Hard Rock Performance for their rendition of War Machine from Black Ice and Jeff Beck scooped the Best Rock Instrumental Performance.ADNFCR-2788-ID-19588923-ADNFCR
