New Strokes album 'takes a few listens'
28/03/2011
Tracks on the new Strokes album Angles will take a few listens to grow on fans, according to a band member.
The New York City outfit wanted to make a record that their followers would need to hear multiple times before enjoying, said bassist Nikolai Fraiture during an interview with radio station Xfm.
"After a five-year break, we didn't want to do something that's like, 'Oh, I get it after one listen!'," he commented.
Fraiture also revealed that the band - recently unveiled as headliners at this year's Leeds and Reading festival - will soon begin work on a follow-up to the album.
The musician said the fivepiece plan to start writing songs for a future LP in a few weeks' time.
"It should be soon. April, mid-April," he confirmed.
Fans of The Strokes should celebrate the band's plans to start work on a new record by grabbing indie and alternative t-shirts from 8ball.co.uk
