Ex-Paramore guitarist says lyric change was key
20/04/2011
Josh Farro, formerly of Paramore, has revealed that changes to a song lyric contributed to his decision to leave the band with his brother Zac.
The track in question is the group's 2010 single Careful and Josh claimed the alteration to the song contradicted his faith, since he sees Paramore as a Christian act.
He told Common Revolt: "Hayley [Williams, singer] always said it was meant to be 'Your truth never set me free', but you know. If it was meant to be that, then why was it changed?"
In the finished version of the tune, the line reads 'The truth never set me free, so I did it myself'.
The guitarist, who is now working on his new band Novel American, explained that this issue was one of the many reasons why he and Zac felt they should leave.
Paramore are reportedly recording their next album with producer Rob Cavallo.
