23/11/2009
A glove worn by Michael Jackson for his first performance of the Moonwalk has fetched $350,000 (£212,000) at auction.
The rhinestone-studded glove featured in a 1983 television appearance by the King of Pop and was described by auctioneer Darren Julien as "the Holy Grail of Michael Jackson gear", the Daily Mirror reports.
Hong Kong businessman Hoffman Ma bought the item and now plans to display it at a hotel in Macau, China.
The auction in New York featured 69 other items belonging to the late singer, including a jacket from the Bad tour in 1989 and a fedora hat, which was sold for $22,000.
In addition, a dental mould used to make fangs for Jackson in his iconic video for Thriller fetched over $10,000.
Fans who want to secure their own piece of Jackson memorabilia without breaking the bank may want to invest in one of the many T-shirts made in tribute to the music legend.
Meanwhile, a strand of hair from the head of Elvis Presley was recently sold for £1,055 at an auction house in Wiltshire.
