McCartney 'reconnects' with Beatles through songs

Playing songs by The Beatles represents a way for Sir Paul McCartney to revisit his former band members, it has emerged.

Speaking at the launch of his new live album and DVD Good Evening New York City, the 67-year-old singer said that he finds it "emotional" to perform some of the Beatles' hits on stage.

McCartney, who has just announced details of his first European tour for five years, also revealed that music gives him an opportunity to "revisit" his late wife Linda.

"If I'm doing something like Something - the song - obviously I'm thinking of George [Harrison]," he said.

"Similarly with John [Lennon] and Linda - in a way you're kind of in contact them again and it's sad, it's emotional."

McCartney's tour, which is certain to generate plenty of merchandise and Tshirt sales for the music legend, begins in Hamburg on December 2nd and concludes at the O2 Arena in London on December 22nd.
